DESIGN
Logitech MX Anywhere 2S
The Logitech MX Anywhere 2S is a low-profile mouse with a stylish design. The back has a logo; however, it does not light up. Despite the fact that the side buttons are only on the left side, it features an ambidextrous design with geometric grips on both sides, so it should be pleasant to grasp whether you’re right-handed or left-handed. The Logitech MX Anywhere 2S mouse is exceptionally well-made. It’s built of solid plastic, with excellent rubber grips on each side, but they aren’t as gripping as they should be. The side buttons are squishy, but they are still reasonably sturdy. There is some internal rattling, and the scroll wheel wobbles; however, this is most likely due to the wheel tilt feature. This mouse’s replacement, the Logitech MX Anywhere 3, is more solidly made. This mouse is a little hefty for its small size, and there is no weight optimization.
Logitech MX Anywhere 3
This mouse boasts an ambidextrous design and a sleeker appearance than its predecessor, the Logitech MX Anywhere 2S. We tested the ‘Pale Grey’ model, which has a matte white body with a silver accent around the base and the scroll wheel. The scroll wheel is chrome, and beneath it is the Logitech logo. There is no RGB illumination on the mouse. The build quality is excellent. It’s composed entirely of solid plastic and feels sturdy. The sides have rubber grips that feel excellent but aren’t gripping. Unlike the Logitech MX Anywhere 2S, the scroll wheel is made of metal and features grooves rather than a rubber grip. It wiggles from side to side despite the lack of left/right tilt choices. This mouse is lighter than the Logitech MX Anywhere 2S and easier to transport. There is, however, no weight optimization.
COMFORT
Logitech MX Anywhere 2S
The mouse’s ergonomics are adequate, given its small size. It’s meant to be used with a fingertip hold; however, those with small hands may be able to use it with a claw grip. Furthermore, the rubber texture on either side does not feel sticky enough to prevent slipping. On the plus side, the buttons are well-placed and straightforward to access. The Logitech MX Anywhere 3 is a pleasant device. It’s minor and only beneficial for individuals who employ the fingertip grip. It has an ambidextrous design, although the side buttons are on the left side, making it more suitable for right-handed users. The buttons are well-positioned, and the side grips are comfortable.
Logitech MX Anywhere 3
The Logitech MX Anywhere 3 is a pleasant device. It’s tiny and only beneficial for individuals who employ the fingertip grip. It has an ambidextrous design, although the side buttons are on the left side, making it more suitable for right-handed users. The buttons are well-positioned, and the side grips are comfortable. Because it’s such a tiny mouse, even those with small hands may struggle to grasp it comfortably with a palm grip. Only those with small hands may be able to use the claw grip. People with larger hands will find it too tiny. The Logitech Anywhere 3 is a fine choice for most individuals who use the fingertip grip, but if you have extra-large hands, the mouse may be too small.
CONNECTIVITY
Logitech MX Anywhere 2S
This mouse offers excellent wireless connectivity options. It can be used via Bluetooth or with the wireless USB receiver that comes with it. If your battery is running low, you can keep using it while it charges. However, if it is not also connected by Bluetooth or with the receiver, you cannot use it with just the cord put in. The rubbery cable isn’t particularly flexible, but it doesn’t have a shoddy feel about it.
Logitech MX Anywhere 3
It offers excellent wireless capabilities. You can connect to it using either its proprietary receiver or Bluetooth. It can connect to up to three devices simultaneously, although we haven’t tested this. You may use it while it’s charging, but data isn’t transferred across the cord, and you must still be connected wirelessly. The battery is supposed to last up to 70 days on a full charge, but we didn’t put it through that test. The rubber cord that comes with this mouse is adequate. It’s a little short and stiff. It includes a USB-C to USB-A connector, whereas the Logitech MX Anywhere 3 for Mac variation includes a USB-C to USB-C cable.
CONTROL
Logitech MX Anywhere 2S
It has a standard layout, with two side buttons on the left side and a button directly below the scroll wheel that defaults as a gesture button but may be reprogrammed to perform another action, such as a middle click or a CPI switch. Except for the left and right clicks, you can remove all the buttons. Unfortunately, there is no method to alter profiles using the mouse.
The Logitech MX Anywhere 2S has acceptable click latency. It should be responsive enough for everyday work, but it may be too unresponsive for competitive gamers, especially if linked by Bluetooth. The laser sensor on the mouse is somewhat off-center, closer to the back. This mouse, unlike many modern mice, works on glass.
The Logitech MX Anywhere 2S has an excellent scroll wheel. The wheel is incremented, and endless scrolling can be unlocked by pressing down on the wheel until you hear a click. Although it wobbles somewhat, this is likely owing to the wheel tilt feature, which can be configured to perform various tasks.
Logitech MX Anywhere 3
The number of buttons on the Logitech Anywhere 3 is adequate. The side buttons, scroll wheel click, and centre button below the scroll wheel can all be reprogrammed. The scroll wheel, on the other hand, does not have left/right tilt possibilities. You can also enable gesture support for one of the buttons, which provides an additional set of four actions when you move the mouse in a specific manner.
The click latency is average. Because it is too high for competitive or reaction-based games, it is best suited for casual gaming, surfing, or productivity chores. Although its click latency is less consistent over a Bluetooth connection, you’re unlikely to notice the difference when using it. It is equipped with the same sensor as the Logitech MX Anywhere 2S. Its CPI range is limited, but it should be adequate for business users, and the sensitivity may be adjusted in tiny stages. The sensor maintains its accuracy while traveling at high or moderate speeds, and it also works on glass, which is unusual. The polling frequency is set to 125Hz.
When in notched mode, the grooved metal scroll wheel feels smooth, and the steps are well-defined. By pushing the centre button below the scroll wheel, you can also enable a quicker, free-scrolling option. There is no side wheel, however you can use the conventional scroll wheel to navigate horizontally by pushing one of the side buttons.
OPERATING SYSTEM AND SOFTWARE
Logitech MX Anywhere 2S
Except for the left and right-click buttons, the Logitech Options programme allows you to personalize all of the buttons, and you can even alter the CPI to your liking. You can also create profiles for specific software, which are loaded when that software is accessed; however you cannot create several profiles for the same product. Both Windows and macOS are supported by the Logitech MX Anywhere 2S.
Logitech MX Anywhere 3
The Logitech Options programme allows for extensive customization. It’s compatible with macOS and Windows, and the UI is straightforward. You can personalise the buttons for certain applications, and those settings are applied instantly when you launch that application. This mouse is fully compatible with both Windows and Mac operating systems. The Logitech MX Anywhere 3 for Mac variation is said to operate with Windows, although we haven’t tried it.
PERFORMANCE
Logitech MX Anywhere 2S
The Logitech MX Anywhere 2S is an excellent choice for the office. Although it is built for a fingertip grip and has poor ergonomics, almost all buttons can be remapped to suit your needs. Its scroll wheel also has incredible functions that make working on long texts easier. The Logitech MX Anywhere 2S is solely suitable for first-person shooter games. Although its wireless, fingertip grip style would be ideal for FPS games, its click latency may be slightly sluggish, and the cursor movements may be a little too jerky.
Logitech MX Anywhere 3
The Logitech MX Anywhere 3 is ideal for usage in the office. Despite its small size, it’s comfortable and a fantastic option for individuals who want a fingertip grip. It’s well-made, and you may customize a few buttons. It communicates with your device via Bluetooth or its proprietary receiver. The Logitech MX Anywhere 3 is ideal for first-person shooter video games. Although it is not intended to be a gaming mouse, it is light and has good gliding capabilities. It is, however, small and only recommended for individuals who use the fingertip grip, and it has a low polling rate. Furthermore, its click latency is too high for reaction or fast-paced games.
CONCLUSION
For the most part, the Logitech MX Anywhere 3 outperforms the Logitech MX Anywhere 2S. The 3 is more solidly made, lighter, and has shorter click latency. The 2S, on the other hand, provides additional programmed inputs due to the scroll wheel’s left/right tilt inputs.
